To kick off Christmas, Colombians illuminate the streets and skies with the light of joy.

Every December 7th, at night, millions of candles are lit in the towns and cities of the country to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.

The candles and lanterns of all colours fill the night with which Christmas officially begins with magic. That night commemorates the moment in which the Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that she was the chosen one, before her birth, to be the mother of Jesus.
